01
Problem
Professional drivers track shifts, hours, night hours, double-paid hours, consecutive days, routes, kilometres and fuel across months of repeated work. The product had to remove the manual calculations while keeping every result traceable to what the driver entered, so a monthly figure can be checked against the employer's timesheet.
02
Scope and constraints
- • Repeated data entry has to stay fast, including with no signal
- • Calculations must stay understandable, not opaque
- • Reports have to match what drivers compare them against
- • Records must stay in sync between the phone and the browser
03
Implementation
The app organizes entries as a digital work log and derives hours, night hours, double-paid hours, consecutive days, kilometres and fuel. Monthly PDF and Excel reports keep each calculated figure connected to the records behind it.
In September 2026 Drivers Data gained a web app at driversdata.codingshadows.com with offline-first sync, so entries made on the road reach the browser once the phone is back online. Drivers can import an Excel roster and compare it with what they logged, and the app flags kilometres copied between entries.
The product started as a student's project for his father, a bus driver, and launched on Android in 2019. It has grown with the people who use it on every shift.
