01
Problem
Students preparing for the Bacalaureat juggle a separate app or site for each subject, scattered past papers and no reliable picture of how ready they are. CodingShadows already ran several single-subject apps. Simulează had to bring the subjects together under one account without losing what made each of them useful, and grade full simulations against the official marking scheme rather than by guesswork.
02
Scope and constraints
- • 13 subjects with different exam formats, from essays to maps and logic diagrams
- • Lessons and quizzes that open without an account and keep working offline
- • Grading that follows the official marking scheme and never reveals answers before submission
- • Web, Android and iOS from one product version and one backend
- • No ads, with an optional Premium tier

Implementation
Each subject keeps its own logic: map exercises for geography, step-by-step tools for logic, audio commentaries and a weekly contest for Romanian. Around them sit shared lessons, quizzes and flashcards with spaced repetition, decks imported from Anki, and a mistakes queue that brings every wrong answer back until it sticks.
Simulations are timed like the real exam, saved as the student works and graded against the official marking scheme, with points per requirement and the next thing to fix. An AI tutor answers questions in context, handwritten answers can be photographed and transcribed, and a readiness score combines coverage, recall and the latest simulation. Leaderboards and duels give students a reason to come back.
The mobile app is Kotlin Multiplatform with native Jetpack Compose and SwiftUI screens, the web app is Next.js, and one Go backend owns identity, progress, Premium and the simulation engine while proxying the established Romanian and geography services.

Live on web and Android
Simulează went live on the web on 29 September 2026 and reached production on Google Play on 1 October 2026; the iOS app is in TestFlight and coming soon. It is too new for store ratings or usage figures, so none are quoted here. What it demonstrates today is scope: 13 subjects, one account and barem-graded simulations shipped across platforms from one codebase per layer.
Evidence: Launch dates from the Simulează release history; Google Play listing checked 3 October 2026.
